Apex Legends: The Hunt Begins.
My thoughts, My tips, My grievances.

Apex Legends Has been a game I finally have gotten into lately. My brother had been trying to get me into it for a while and I was not originally a fan so to speak. The combat is rather unforgiving, made only more so by the added abilities of each "Legend" thrown into the fray. After an afternoon of playing to where I could go ranked I hopped over to that. Now as it stands, my fancy headset needs an adapter to work with my xbox, so I am mostly solo que with no mic.

I Have made my way to gold, where the real struggles of limited communication
and a squad of randos really impact the game. (which I just lost by the way.)
Getting this far was surprisingly easy. I mean some teammates may complain, but I
would not "Hot - Drop" and if the team was making dumb calls I would "Lone Wolf" it.
This really only became a thing once it started costing rank points (RP) to join a
Match, the cost increasing per tier along with difficulty. My strategy was read
the map and decide where was safeto land, and then recon my way playing edge.
This meant sometimes that i would have to camp for a while to let edge get to me.
Below i will cover my strategy and some tips of my own.
I am tired of looking up any tips videos for the next tier to get the same 5 most common or even obvious "TIPS"
that you find in every video. Mind you now I am not some great player, but these tips helped me,
and from what I see from some squad mates they could help them to.
THE JUMP -- Now if you are the jump master, or have decided to jump solo my strategy is to
look backwards and find the hole. At first everyone wants to jump and then sees a bunch of
trails and bail. So what originally looked hot, may actually be the safest drop. If not, you at
least have a good lay of the land of where to make your path. Which we will cover next.
Here you will see how I look and mentally
map out enemy drops. Then I slingshot
us back at an angle that puts us in a hole.
Once we landed and could see the first
circle I figured a western route. My whole
team ran east and died minutes into the game and disconnected (losing the RP .)
and gaining a penalty. I finished 2nd
and only fought twice.
Path of least resistance (Don't fight if you don't have to.)
Most people I see want to drop right in and fight, and in ranked usually die early doing so, again losing that RP entry. You don't start with a weapon dropping in on ranked. I lost a lot in matches this way trying to rescue my team before I bought crypto. If you play the circle, YOU WILL GET YOUR FIGHT, and it will matter more. No one ever wins consecutively with zero fighting, and at the risk of challenging tiers RP cost "HOT drops" are not consecutively winnable either. Take that shit to the norms if you do not have a known squad or voice device. I hate losing RP to guys who want to drop into 8 other squads 7 seconds into the game start. I literally made it to gold rank mostly by solo camping, or camping and spawning teammates with a drone. Again this is my solo que strat for coasting to gold. After I find my hole to drop in and loot the area I plan a route that minimizes the chance of squads being behind me, and a route where I will follow the stragglers that ARE in the area.
I then either play the edge of circle this way or camp and recon the center until the edge comes to me.
Notice I avoided the "Hot Zones" and followed the edge of the map into the circle where I watched other squads run to the middle until the line came. I picked off a few stragglers in the top 5 fight before becoming stranded 1v3 in final circle when one of them hunted down my beacon while the other two kept me busy in ultimate form.

Legend Select - If you choose the passive recon route, I promise you will make it to gold fairly quick. took me about two nights of playing solo. But this does come with picking the right legend for the job.
Bloodhound: At first I played Bloodhound for this strategy. His tracking ability came in handy, but I
typically found it was more useful a little to late, or for finishing fights not avoiding them.
He is a decent back up.

Pathfinder: A great pick for 4 key reasons. He can break contact fairly easily, he can reach
camp-able spaces easier, and along with covering massive stretches of ground quickly he can
survey the land for future ring information.

Crypto: Another excellent pick is crypto. (Though for some reason I get a ton of grief zooming him
around getting squad mates multiple kills.) His drone has an insane operating range. On top of that
wide range, he can not only recover allied banners, he can activate the spawn beacon with it as
well. This doesn't even include its main purpose of recon, where it can activate survey beacons and
show your whole squad enemies, traps, doors and loot it see's. A little parting tip: When in drone view you can look at the banners across the map, they will tell you how many squads are in your drones range.
Revnent: Surprisingly to me Revenent or whatever his name is has proven to work well for this strat. I originally didn't know his passive allowed for climbing higher ledges. And I figured stopping abilities with his ability, and mainly using his ult to recon, or
recover banners would be helpful. Took me a few rounds to learn the ins and outs of his ultimate like how you have to enter it once summoned.
To summarize, you can coast to gold IV with some patience if your having a hard time due to lack of mic, friends, or just the will to use either. ~
